Australian defence and aerospace programmes are growing faster than the country's capacity to finish their parts. Aerospace-grade surface treatment — anodising to MIL-A-8625F with the process control and paperwork a prime expects — has been the bottleneck in too many supply chains.
Summers Finishing went from greenfield site to operating line in five months. We designed the facility around the process, not the other way round — and where the right tooling didn't exist, we built it, including our own software to program the rectifier and calculate the square decimetres of every anodising load.
The facility is built to the operational requirements of AC7108, the NADCAP audit criteria for chemical processing — with NADCAP certification targeted for 2027.
Anodising quality lives and dies on current density. Our in-house software programs the rectifier for each load — calculating the square decimetres of surface area to be anodised and holding the process inside spec from ramp to seal.
Every parameter is logged against the batch: bath chemistry, current profile, film thickness. The record ships with the parts.
